With no formal training whatsoever, Ina Garten is considered “the Culinary Queen” and that just speaks volumes. Garten actually taught herself all of the best culinary techniques from French and New England cookbooks, and also from feedback from friends and family. Once she quit her job at the White House Office of Management and Budget, Garten opened her own gourmet food store, Barefoot Contessa. All of which lead to several best-selling cookbooks, magazine columns, convenience products, and even a popular Food Network show. Nicely done.
