Not Done Yet
The air was thick with anxiety as Petunia packed her suitcases, her actions rigid and mechanical. Joe stood there, arms folded across his chest, expression unreadable. Jennifer hovered in the doorway, her eyes red with tears, silently watching her mother-in-law prepare to leave. She felt a mixture of relief and sadness, knowing that this confrontation signaled the end of an era while simultaneously initiating a new chapter in their marriage. However, Petunia was not finished with them yet. “So, is this how things are going to be? You’re choosing her over me? Are you kicking your mother out? “This is not how I raised you.”
