Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman became a household name when she starred in the classic film Casablanca opposite Humphrey Bogart. Did you know she had already been appearing in Swedish and German films since the ‘30s? She had an incredibly wide international appeal and a biographer has described her as “arguably the most international star in the history of entertainment.” One of the directors that Ingrid Bergman worked with was Anatole Litvak, who said this about the celebrity: “Through all her troubles she held to the conviction that she had been true to herself and it made her quite a person.” The star died due to breast cancer in 1982.
