Brigitte Bardot
Brigitte Bardot started out being a dancer and gave acting a shot in the ‘50s. She starred in the controversial Robert Vadim film And God Create Women, which launched her to fame back in 1956. According to an American critic, Brigitte is “undeniably a creation of superlative craftsmanship.” In a conservative era, her introduction to the international stage was so palpable that Simone de Beauvoir wrote a feminist essay titled Brigitte Bardot and The Lolita Syndrome. Brigitte later became an animal rights activist, though she has been fined on five separate occasions for inciting racial hatred.
