An Assassination That Devasted a Country

November 22, 1963 is a day that every American remembers. It was the day Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy during a presidential motorcade. The loss of the president grieved not only his family, but the entire country. All sibling rivalries were put aside, and Lee went to be with her sister. Lee even wrote a message for her sister, reading, “Good night, my beloved Jacks—the bravest and noblest of all. L.” While she loved her brother and cared about her sister, she didn’t realize how much trauma was involved. Lee was even caught telling a friend that being there for Jackie was “hell” and that Jackie struck her in the face. Lee didn’t understand it then, and time didn’t help.
