The First Lady was born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier in Southampton, New York, on July 28, 1929. Janet Norton Lee Bouvier, a socialite, and John Vernou Bouvier III, a wealthy Wall Street stockbroker, were her parents. Her father was nicknamed “Black Jack” for gambling. Jackie was called after the notorious gambler, philanderer, and alcoholic. Despite his “dark heart,” Jackie’s father was from a wealthy family. The family was humble, but they became wealthy over time. To blend in with the rich and powerful, they forged documents to claim patrilineal links to European monarchy.
