Lee went forward with the wedding despite her family’s misgivings; however, it only took a few months for her to not only understand why everyone was so concerned, but also to recognize that they were correct. Her marriage was not going to last. Just as this knowledge set in, her sister made her next move and outperformed Lee. Not even a year later, Jackie married the dashing (and stinking rich) John F. Kennedy. Not only had her sister married, but she had done it with someone far wealthier than Canfield. Lee was unhappy, but she had other concerns.
