The Story
Unfortunately, Lt Colonel Vance got severely wounded during the invasion. Tragically, he recovered but then got killed during the cargo plane crash while being transported to Washington DC to get the Medal from President Roosevelt. In his honor, they named the Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma after him.
