Patricia, unable to stand it any longer, shoved her out the back door and locked it. Jennifer sat out in the cold. Joe had just returned and his heart tightened as he heard his wife’s cries. He ran inside as quickly as he could, his mind racing with concern. “Jennifer, what’s wrong?” Joe inquired, dread creeping into his voice when he discovered her seated on the front steps, her shoulders quivering with grief. She gazed up at him, her eyes flushed and puffy. “Your mother pushed me, Joe. “She pushed me out the door.” She kicked her out and locked the door. Joe had had about enough of it.
