Jane Powell, 92, Born In 1929 – A Date With Judy
Jane Powell had an early interest in the performing arts that has continued throughout her life. Dancing was her first love. When she was two or three years old, she started learning to dance and sing. These skills were crucial in winning competitions and landing a deal with MGM. She did not turn around or look back after putting her foot in the door. During her first few years at MGM, she appeared in theater, radio, and television, as well as in six films. This includes the films Three Daring Daughters and A Date With Judy, in which she appeared alongside Elizabeth Taylor, a friend of hers and Taylor’s. Powell exited the acting career in 2004.

Loretta Lynn, 89, Born In 1932 – You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)
Many artists, including Loretta Lynn, draw inspiration for their songs from real-life events and experiences. Her most contentious song, “The Pill,” is about her experience as a young mother of four children at the age of 20. “Coal Miner’s Daughter” is one of her best-known songs. While we can’t wait to hear Lynn sing about obtaining her statue at the Ryman Auditorium, where the Grand Ole Opry used to hold live concerts and Lynn made her first appearance on the world-famous stage for country music, we also can’t wait to hear Lynn sing about obtaining her statue at the Grand Ole Opry, where she performed for the first time.
