The story of a guy who is sentenced to life in prison at the Shawshank State Penitentiary for murder is told in this film. He goes on to become friends with the convict played by Freeman, and the two of them eventually join a money-laundering scam run by a warden.

Although there has been a new wave of found-footage films, this is the film that was the catalyst for the movement, having premiered in 1999. If you are a lover of the horror genre, chances are you have seen one or more of its films at some point in your life. This psychological thriller does not rely on jump scares, but rather is a slow-burning suspense thriller that sneaks up on you.
